Lake Dallas Alum, Carolina Rookie Daryl Williams Headed to Super Bowl

Daryl WilliamsThe Lake Dallas community shouldn’t have any trouble finding a reason to take interest in Super Bowl 50.

Suiting up for the NFC champion Carolina Panthers on February 7, 2016, will be Lake Dallas alum Daryl Williams, who will cap his rookie season with a crack at the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Selected by the Panthers in the fourth round (No. 102 overall pick) of the 2015 NFL draft, Williams has seen time this season in a reserve capacity on the Carolina offensive line. During the regular season, Williams appeared in 10 games for the Panthers — despite being sidelined by a knee injury early in the year — and logged a combined 94 snaps between offense and special teams.

While at Lake Dallas, Williams was a four-star recruit and tabbed as one of the top offensive tackles in the state. An all-region selection by PrepStar, Williams graded out at 93 percent and recorded 38 pancakes during his senior year in 2009, while also not allowing a sack.

Williams and the Panthers booked their second-ever trip to the Super Bowl on Sunday after routing the Arizona Cardinals, 49-15. They’ll square off with the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. from Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco on CBS.
