Preview: Falcons Look to Swoop in on Hawks

Game Preview

The Lake Dallas Falcons (0-1) will travel to Red Oak on Friday to take on the Red Oak Hawks (1-0). The Hawks are coming off of an impressive win against North Garland, while the Falcons have had a hard time stomaching their loss to Richardson Pearce.

Both teams will enter the game firing on all cylinders. The Falcon offense had a combined 461 yards on offense, while Red Oak is coming to the game with 481 total offensive yards. The respective defenses have no shame either, as the Falcons held their previous opponent to 6 first half points and Red Oak held their opponent to 6 points throughout.

Scouting Report

The Red Oak Hawks graduated 37 lettermen from last year’s squad that barely missed the playoffs in a very tough district. With that, their top defensive back from last year transferred out of state so the Hawks are facing a rebuilding year. However, there is still some talent on hand lead by the big tight end Jeremiah Gaines. Last week, Gaines hauled in 3 catches for 58 yards and a score. The ground attack will be led by Cameron Bausley who totaled 12 carries, 129 yards and a touchdown last week. The key to the Hawks offense is their quarterback, Austin Van Hove who will be asked to do many things in the unique Red Oak offense. The Red Oak defense is very small, size wise, so they will rely on speed and positioning to stop the versatile Lake Dallas attack.
