What he did: In a 52-34 victory over Wichita Falls, he scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 57-yard interception return in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, he scored on a 95-yard interception return.

Did you know? In his final junior varsity game, after coaches decided to move him up to varsity last season, Mitchell suffered a dislocated elbow while making an interception. Having previously dislocated the same elbow, he has worn a protective brace all season. “It was heartbreaking,†he said of the injury. “Coming into this season I was kind of nervous about not breaking it again.†… Mitchell can play anywhere in the secondary. After playing receiver and cornerback his first two high school seasons, he was moved to safety because of his physical play this season. … He runs the 200 meters in track with a personal best of 23.1 seconds. … He enjoys playing the piano, anything from classical to pop. “I can’t read music but I pick up songs off YouTube,†he said. “I’d say my favorites are Beethoven and Chopin.â€
